In the latest episode of “Daring to Leap,” host Lori Philip sits down with Kerry Tepindino, the bestselling author of “One Thought Away” and the CEO and founder of the One Thought Away Project. Kerry’s story is a testament to the transformative power of mindset and the impact it can have on one’s life.
A Journey from Struggle to Success
Kerry Tepindino’s journey began with a battle against low self-esteem, a lack of self-worth, and poor body image, which spiraled into an eating disorder. After college, she joined the Peace Corps and then worked as a graphic designer for a software company. However, she struggled with stress management and found herself turning to food as a way to cope. One pivotal night, after a binge-eating episode, she found herself on the cold tile floor of her bathroom, realizing she needed to make a change.
Defining Moments and Transformation
Kerry describes this moment as her rock bottom, where she was forced to decide between continuing down a path of unhappiness and poor health or finding the freedom and happiness she had always craved. This moment of clarity was the beginning of her transformation. She began to travel the world, learning various holistic health practices and becoming a certified counselor of nutrition and a biodynamic cranial sacral therapist.
The One Thought Away Process
Kerry’s experience led her to develop the One Thought Away Project, a global movement that has influenced over 250,000 people. At the heart of her teachings is the concept that you are always one thought away from a different life. She explains that mindset is a foundational aspect of any transformation. Without the right mindset, it’s challenging to regulate emotions, change habits, or follow through with any strategy.
Kerry’s five-step One Thought Away process includes:
Mindset: Recognizing that your thoughts shape your reality and leveraging your mind as your greatest tool.
Emotional Mastery: Understanding that emotions are data and learning to regulate them effectively.
Relationship to Self: Treating yourself with kindness, respect, and love, setting the foundation for how others treat you.
Becoming Present: Living in the present moment and avoiding escapism through unhealthy habits.
Sustaining Transformation: Implementing strategies and getting support to maintain and build upon your successes.
